About the project:
Stage 2 of the Creative Partnerships Programme Project Iegūst visi (Everybody Benefits) combined three different fields: design education, business education and manufacturing industry. The project was designed to follow on the previous creative partnerships programme project established and funded by the Ministry of Culture that was implemented together with Vaidava Ceramics and Business College under the BA School of Banking and Finance. Participants in the project were mostly school students and teachers, representatives of companies and craftsmen as well as experts in the field. The project was based on the cooperation between the education programme in Design of Ceramics of RSDA and Vaidava Ceramics SIA. The result was the qualification work by Elīza Sakniņa – crockery for fish dishes Jūra (Sea) created in the time period between the two projects. It earned the Annual Design Award and made an addition to the crockery series Zeme (Earth), already produced by the company.
In various stages of the collaborative work, a number of partnerships by pairs were formed: students from two different programmes of the same school, two educational institutions, schools and businesses, manufacturers and consumers. The outcome of this cooperation was a variety of ceramic ware produced, such as clay bowls and vases as well as dishes for everyday and festive occasions, which were inspired by the coastal lifestyle and eating habits. Besides, container packaging samples and graphic identity solutions were created. The project also focused on exploring clay extraction and its preparation for production as well as the analysis of the market demand for ceramic ware, dish using habits, local eating culture, guest house practices in food serving and production of crockery in a professional manufacturing facility.
To conclude the project, the teachers and students of the education programme in Advertising Design of RSDA held an exhibition in the Business College under the BA School of Banking and Finance and in the showroom of VECC Riga School of Design and Art, presenting the outcome of the project and its progress as shown in photos, the results of the surveys and the opinions of entrepreneurs and consumers.
A total of 62 people took part in Stage 2 of the Project Iegūst visi, yet the project activities involved a lot more participants who attended seminars, went on an exploration tour and used the crockery Jūra in guest houses. The outcome includes 140 pieces of dishware as well as 14 brand stories and packaging design.
