Art Education Competence Centre RIGA SCHOOL OF DESIGN AND ART (AECC RSDA) is a tuition-free institution of secondary vocational education established by the Cabinet of the Republic of Latvia and subordinate to the Ministry of Culture of Latvia. It has been assigned a status of the vocational education competence centre, hereinafter referred to as the Competence Centre. The Competence Centre implements vocational secondary education programmes in design and art for students who have completed their general basic and general secondary education.
PURPOSE
The purpose of the Competence Centre is to create the educational environment as well as organise and implement the process of study to ensure the achievement of the vocational education objectives set in the state vocational secondary education standards and standards for art-related occupations.
In addition to implementing the programmes of study, the Competence Centre functions as a regional or sectoral methodology centre and a continuing education centre for teachers, and carries out the assessment of professional competence obtained outside the formal education system.

To provide the high quality artistic design, which is vital for the future of the Latvian national economy, and prepare students to become creative and competitive top-class professionals who will be in demand on the international labour market.
